A wonderful Harvest Thanksgiving and Welcome Service

Thank you to everyone who joined us on 25th September to celebrate Harvest time and a special thank you to Rev’d Larkey who led our Service.

Our theme was the seasons, nature and the elements and all classes worked extremely hard to share their ideas in original ways.

Oak Class sang about falling autumn leaves to the well known tune of ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’…

Sycamore Class told us confidently about the importance of clean air and displayed their beautifully sparkly balloons…

Maple Class created a display of raindrops and mimed different uses of water as we listened to ‘Singing in the Rain’…

Cherry Class linked their literacy and presented Harvest Haikus based on the theme of crops grown in the soil…

Lime (C) Class discovered the many ways in which wood is used…

image

Lime (N) Class shared poetry, drama and music about the importance of fire…

Willow Class summarised our Harvest Thanksgiving with poems written about the themes that the other classes had shared…

Our Service then concluded with a special ‘Welcome to Woodborough School’ to our youngest members of school – pupils in Oak Class (and their parents).

Rev’d Larkey, assisted by Mr Johnson-Hugil, representing our Foundation Governors, blessed each new pupil and presented them all with a small cross.

Lots of visitors joined us for our Service – here are a couple of examples of the comments that they left…

“Great to see the children thinking about what they are thankful for. The variety and confidence was lovely.”

“Another wonderful, warm and charming Harvest Festival Service. Thank you.”
